Bevor wir anfangen, müssen wir etwas klarstellen:
Der Christopher Street Day in Schönebeck wurde letzten Monat von der Stadt abgebrochen – mit der grotesken Begründung, er sei „nicht politisch genug“. Ein Liebeslied wurde beanstandet. Eine Drag-Moderatorin wurde als unpolitisch bezeichnet. Das ist nicht nur realitätsfern – das ist queerfeindlich.
Der Versuch, queere Sichtbarkeit zu entpolitisieren, ist ein Angriff auf unsere Existenz. Wenn queere Liebe nicht politisch sein soll – was dann? Wenn Drag nicht politisch ist – was dann? Wir leben in einem Land, in dem Rechte und Reaktionäre Tag für Tag versuchen, uns zurück in die Unsichtbarkeit zu drängen. In so einem Klima ist jedes öffentliche Zeichen von queerer Identität ein Akt des Widerstands.
Der CSD ist kein Karneval, keine harmlose Party. Er ist ein lauter, stolzer Protest gegen ein System, das uns ausschließt, pathologisiert und unsichtbar machen will. Dass eine
Stadtverwaltung es wagt, diesen Protest zu delegitimieren, zeigt: Wir sind längst wieder an einem Punkt, an dem unsere Rechte zur Verhandlungsmasse geworden sind. Und wir sagen: Nicht mit uns.
Wir werden nicht klein beigeben, wir werden nicht „angepasst“ oder „respektabler“ auftreten, um genehm zu sein. Wir sind hier – laut, queer, unbequem. Und wir lassen uns nicht sagen, wann oder wie unser Protest politisch genug ist. Überall auf der Welt beobachten wir denselben beängstigenden Trend: demokratische Grundrechte werden systematisch abgebaut. Ein beängstigendes Beispiel hierfür ist die Trump Administration in den USA, die uns außerdem zeigt, wie schnell sogenannte „westliche Demokratien“ unsichere Orte für uns werden können.
Trump und seine kult-ähnliche Anhängerschaft leugnet trans Menschen gezielt und möchte diese endgültig aus der Gesellschaft verdrängen. Seit seiner Wiederwahl werden nur noch zwei Geschlechter anerkannt – männlich und weiblich. Infolgedessen müssen alle Regierungsdokumente, die Geschlechtsidentitäten – abgesehen von Mann und Frau – auch nur erwähnen, gelöscht werden. Auf der Website der National Park Service wurde nun der Begriff LGBTQ+ zu LGB ersetzt und trans Personen wie Marsha P Johnson und Sylvia Rivera, die beim Stonewall Riot und dem damaligen Kampf für unsere Rechte bedeutende Rollen spielten, werden einfach ausgelöscht. Ihre Geschichte – unsere Geschichte – wird umgeschrieben und verfälscht. Das ist eine Kriegserklärung an die trans Community und die ganze queere Community.
Und das ist nicht alles. Trump hat das „Diversity, Equity and Inclusion“ Programm, das marginalisierte Gruppen schützen soll, abgeschafft. Nun will er auch noch der Hotline für queere Jugendliche mit Suizidgedanken die Finanzierung streichen. Ihnen das Leben mit Gesetzen zu erschweren und ihre Sicherheit in der Gesellschaft und vor Gericht zu nehmen, reicht Trump und seinen faschistoiden Unterstützern nicht aus. Wenn trans Menschen nicht anerkannt und ernst genommen werden, können sie keine medizinische Versorgung erhalten. Sie werden von Therapien, Hormonbehandlungen und von Schutzräumen ausgeschlossen. Der Leidensdruck steigt. Wenn dann – wie auch in z.B. Ungarn und Russland, oder wie die AfD es in Deutschland gern hätte – Aufklärung verboten werden, verstehen queere Kinder und Jugendliche womöglich nicht, warum sie sich in der Gesellschaft fehl am Platz fühlen. Sie passen nicht in die cis-hetero-normative Gesellschaft und erfahren Ablehnung, aber sie wissen nicht, warum das so ist. Warum sie anders sind und dass mit ihnen nichts falsch ist. Aus dieser Hilflosigkeit und Ablehnung wird Selbsthass. Und das kann tödlich enden.
Kinder und Jugendliche, die sich in der cis-hetero-normativen Ordnung nicht wiederfinden BRAUCHEN Informationen, Vorbilder, Anlaufstellen und Sicherheit. Keine Gesetze, die ihnen ihre Identität absprechen und kriminalisieren. Wenn wir trans Kinder nicht schützen, schützen wir niemanden. Denn diese Angriffe betreffen nicht „nur“ trans Personen. Sie betreffen alle, die nicht ins Weltbild der Rechten passen. Wenn trans Frauen aus Schutzräumen ausgeschlossen werden, dauert es nicht lange, bis cis Frauen, die nicht feminin genug wirken, Zielscheibe dieses Hasses werden.
Es geht um mehr als nur um Identität – es geht um Freiheit.
Das alles passiert nicht nur woanders. Friedrich Merz hat Trumps Politik öffentlich verteidigt. Und das Selbstbestimmungsgesetz würden CDU/CSU auch am liebsten wieder abschaffen. Bei der AfD fangen wir erst gar nicht an. Wenn wir ihre ganze queerfeindliche Scheiße hier aufzählen würden, wären wir morgen noch nicht fertig.
Es geht ihnen immer um den Schutz von Kindern und jungen Menschen, wenn jedoch Schulen wegen rechtsextremen Drohungen schließen müssen, ein 17-jähriges Mädchen von einem Neonazi ermordet wird oder ein 21-jähriger schwarzer Mann von der Polizei von hinten erschossen wird, bleibt der Aufschrei aus. Diese Doppelmoral ist widerwärtig und zeigt ihr wahres Gesicht: es geht ihnen nur um Hass und Hetze.
Wir stehen heute hier in Solidarität mit all unseren trans Geschwistern und unseren queeren Geschwistern. Besonders mit denen, die zudem noch Teil einer anderen marginalisierten Gruppe sind und deshalb noch mehr zur Zielscheibe werden. Wir lassen nicht zu, dass uns unsere Rechte wieder genommen werden. Unser Kampf um Freiheit ist noch nicht vorbei und wir werden nicht aufgeben. Wir werden laut sein, unbequem sein und nicht schweigen, bis wir frei sind!

Before we start, we need to make something clear:
The Christopher Street Day (name of the German pride events) in Schönebeck was canceled by the city last month – on the grotesque grounds that it was “not political enough”. A love song was objected to. A drag presenter was described as apolitical. That’s not just unrealistic – it’s anti-queer.
The attempt to depoliticize queer visibility is an attack on our existence. If queer love is not supposed to be political – then what is? If drag is not political – then what is? We live in a country where right-wingers and reactionaries try to push us back into invisibility every day. In such a climate, any public display of queer identity is an act of resistance.
The CSD is not a carnival, not a harmless party. It is a loud, proud protest against a system that excludes us, pathologizes us and wants to make us invisible. The fact that a
city council dares to delegitimize this protest shows that we have long since returned to a point where we are no longer able to stand up for ourselves: We have long since returned to a point where our rights have become a bargaining chip. And we say: Not with us.
We will not back down, we will not appear “adapted” or “more respectable” in order to be accepted. We are here – loud, queer, uncomfortable. And we will not be told when or how our protest is political enough. All over the world, we are seeing the same frightening trend: basic democratic rights are being systematically dismantled. A frightening example of this is the Trump administration in the USA, which also shows us how quickly so-called “Western democracies” can become unsafe places for us.
Trump and his cult-like followers deliberately deny trans people and want to push them out of society for good. Since his re-election, only two genders have been recognized – male and female. As a result, all government documents that even mention gender identities – apart from male and female – must be deleted. On the National Park Service website, the term LGBTQ+ has now been replaced with LGB and trans people like Marsha P Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, who played significant roles in the Stonewall Riot and the fight for our rights at the time, are simply being erased. Their history – our history – is being rewritten and distorted. This is a declaration of war on the trans community and the entire queer community.
And that’s not all. Trump has abolished the “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” program, which is supposed to protect marginalized groups. Now he also wants to cut funding for the hotline for queer young people with suicidal thoughts. Making their lives more difficult with laws and taking away their safety in society and in court is not enough for Trump and his fascist supporters. If trans people are not recognized and taken seriously, they cannot receive medical care. They are excluded from therapies, hormone treatments and shelters. The level of suffering increases. If sex education is then banned – as in Hungary and Russia, for example, or as the AfD (“Alternative für Deutschland”, Alternative for Germany – a right-wing political party) would like in Germany – queer children and young people may not understand why they feel out of place in society. They don’t fit into cis-hetero-normative society and experience rejection, but they don’t know why this is the case. Why they are different and that there is nothing wrong with them. This helplessness and rejection turns into self-hatred. And that can be fatal.
Children and young people who do not find themselves in the cis-hetero-normative order NEED information, role models, contact points and safety. No laws that deny them their identity and criminalize them. If we don’t protect trans children, we don’t protect anyone. Because these attacks do not “only” affect trans people. They affect everyone who does not fit into the right-wing world view. If trans women are excluded from safe spaces, it doesn’t take long for cis women who don’t appear feminine enough to become the target of this hatred.
It’s about more than just identity – it’s about freedom.
This is not just happening elsewhere. Friedrich Merz (the chancellor of Germany) has publicly defended Trump’s policies. And the CDU/CSU (“Christlich-Demokratische Union/ Christlich-Soziale Union”, Christian democratic union/ Christian social union – the conservative political party with Friedrich Merz) would also like to abolish the Selbstbestimmungsgesetz (Self-Identification Act). Let’s not even start with the AfD. If we were to list all their queer-hostile shit here, we wouldn’t be finished tomorrow.
They are always concerned with protecting children and young people, but when schools have to close because of right-wing extremist threats, a 17-year-old girl is murdered by a neo-Nazi or a 21-year-old black man is shot in the back by the police, there is no outcry. This double standard is disgusting and shows their true colors: they are only interested in hate and incitement.
We stand here today in solidarity with all our trans siblings and our queer siblings. Especially with those who are also part of another marginalized group and are therefore even more of a target. We will not allow our rights to be taken away from us again. Our fight for freedom is not over and we will not give up. We will be loud, uncomfortable and not silent until we are free!
